How to remove sticker glue

Cheap stickers can leave unsightly marks on clothing and surfaces – find out how to get rid of that annoying residue with this step-by-step guide.

Kids often have a bit of a passion for stickers! They’re one of the simplest activities you can use to keep them occupied for hours. But turn your back for five minutes, and those stickers will be slapped onto all kinds of hidden surfaces.

Of course, you’ll only discover this later, when their stickiness has had time to well and truly settle in on walls, windows, and your favourite clothes. If you think it’s about time you learnt how to remove sticker glue, whether from surfaces kids have decided to ‘decorate’ or just from jars, just follow our easy guidelines below.

Use a basic pencil eraser to scrub off the last few scraps of sticker residue on flat hard surfaces – their shape makes them particularly ideal for lifting small deposits of glue. Remember, however, that the sooner you deal with a sticker stain, the better – once the mark has dried in (accumulating dirt and grime in the process) you’ll find it much tougher to get rid of!

How to remove sticky label residue from clothes

Removing sticker residue from clothes can actually be fairly simple:

  1. If at all possible, don’t let a sticky stain dry or go through the tumble dryer – once it has dried out, it’ll be much harder to remove.
  2. Check the care label of your garment before treating it – this means you can choose a suitable detergent and wash cycle. If your garment is wool, silk, lace, or any other delicate fabric, you’ll want to use a mild detergent and to treat the stain with a little extra care.
  3. Rub a good quality detergent (like OMO) directly into the area. You can also splash out on a specialist adhesive stain remover, but check the label carefully to ensure that it is suitable for your fabric, as some powerful stain removers can be a little too strong for delicate fabrics. When dealing with any cleaning product, always protect your hands and follow the instructions on the label.
  4. Re-wash the garment according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Wash at 40 degrees or below to ensure that the heat from the wash doesn’t set the stain.
  5. If some of the residue persists, re-treat the area. Alternatively, you can try blotting surgical spirit directly onto the stain and washing again as normal. But always make sure you test any treatments on an inconspicuous area of the fabric first to ensure that your method and the material are compatible.

How to remove sticky residue from plastic, wood, and metal

Removing stickers from plastic, wood, and metal can be a little bit trickier if you don’t know the safest method to use. Chemical removing agents can damage these materials, and anything abrasive can leave marks or dents. Instead:

  1. Apply vegetable oil to the area and let it soak in for a couple of hours.
  2. Use a warm (not hot) hair dryer to soften the glue, and wipe the residue off.
  3. Use a hot soapy water and cloth for a final clean.

How to remove sticky labels from walls

These days we often use large vinyl stickers to decorate our walls – but what if you want to take them off? Most manufacturers of ‘decals’ have their own recommended method for removing their stickers to follow, but if the packet instructions have long since disappeared, you’ll need to:

  1. Remove as much of the paper part of the sticker manually.
  2. Use a pencil eraser to rub away excess residue.
  3. Use a cloth with hot soapy water to get the wall totally clean.

How to remove sticker gluefrom windows

Letting your kids put stickers on the inside of the windows of your car can seem like a fun idea at the time, but when you try to remove them (or they naturally deteriorate), their remains are very unsightly. Torn bits of sticker are not the best of accessories, but neither are scratched windows, so:

  1. Avoid the temptation to use something sharp to scrape the glue off – this could scratch the glass.
  2. Moisten any paper residue with a damp cloth.
  3. Then, apply an acetate-based nail varnish remover and rub or roll the glue away from the glass.
  4. Use hot soapy water to remove any remaining glue.

If the sticker has been stuck to the window for a long time, it will be harder to remove. If the above technique doesn’t do the job, you may have to resort to using something like a palette knife, but be very careful to protect your fingers and make sure you use it flat against the surface of the glass to avoid causing scratches.

How to remove sticky label residue from jars

Glass jars are incredibly useful things to keep around the house, either as simple flower vases or as a useful way to keep hold of small objects, like spare beads and buttons. The easiest way to remove sticky labels on your jars is by following these steps:

  1. Plunge the jars straight into a big bowl of hot soapy water – use a good quality washing up liquid to make the lather.
  2. Leave them to soak for half an hour. By the time you come back to them, the glue should have dissolved, and the labels will slide off easily!
  3. If any residue remains, use neat vinegar and a microfibre cloth – or a small nail brush – to scrub the glass bottles clean.

Once you know how to remove sticker residue easily, you can use this skill to reuse jars and tins around your house – as well as taking care of kids’ sticker-related mishaps. Give it a go!

Remember that vinyl stickers as easy to apply and just as easy to remove due to the material used to make them. Asset Print offers quality vinyl sticker printing - no matter what your needs!

Letterhead Printing – Top tips for effective Letterheads

These days we may conduct much of our business by email or online but letterheads are still widely used and hugely important to most businesses. Many customers like and even depend on written correspondence. Written or signed letters also add a more personal touch to communications or business transactions. As they bear your brand they also advertise your business. That’s why you should always put plenty of thought into the design of your printed letterheads.

It’s all in the details
It might sound obvious, but don’t get so carried away with designing a great letterhead that you forget the essentials. Business name, address, contact details including email and web address are absolutely essential, as is your logo. Some companies include social media addresses like Twitter or Facebook but make sure your printed letterhead doesn’t look cluttered. Its main purpose is as a border for your letter’s content.

Use a good design and artwork programme
Ask any designer and they’ll tell you they can easily spot anything produced using platforms such as Word or Pages. Programmes like Indesign and Illustrator were specifically created for design and allow much greater flexibility for both type and graphics. Any good online printer will have downloadable templates you can use for your artwork so you know that what you supply will be print ready.

Keep your brand consistentYour logo and brand identity is just as important on your printed letterhead as on any marketing. Your brand should be easily recognisable but not overbearing. Compliment slips should reflect the same details and design as your letterhead and they both should sit perfectly beside your business card design too.

Use vector logos
Logos or other graphics should be in vector format. Photoshop files in high res (300dpi at the printed size) are fine but vector or line art images will always look sharper.

Think about a continuation sheet
If some of your correspondence is likely to be more than a single page in length, have continuation sheets printed. These shouldn’t have the details you need on your letterhead but should have the same design, look and feel. It’s much better to use continuation sheets than blank pages and you should never use your letterhead again for a second page.

Asset Print offers letterhead printing as well as other stationery to customers from all over Cape Town.

How to Market My New Business in 2019 by Using Online Printing

Online Printing Can Help You Reach Your Goals

roll up banner sign by color copies usa
Congratulations, you have taken the leap and started your own business! It’s a big step and an accomplishment you should be proud of. Now that you’ve set up your new company, you are likely wondering how to effectively market it. Most modern business marketing advice revolves around digital marketing methods such as having a good website. profiles on major social media platforms. search engine optimization and content marketing. While these are important, they cannot wholly replace the value of printed materials, like flyers, in marketing.
Some businesses, for example, may primarily operate locally and have little need for digital marketing efforts. Even if your business is wholly online, there are still benefits to using printed marketing materials. The following is an in-depth guide for how to market your new business in 2019 by using printing from Asset Print.
Direct Mail
For certain types of businesses, direct mail can be an invaluable way to gain the attention of clients. This is especially true for small businesses like doctor’s offices and storefronts that don’t do much business outside of a local community. Direct mailings can remind customers that your business is still there if they haven’t come in a while, promote sales and discounts, advertise that your new business has opened and more. It is a good way to reach people who may not spend a lot of time online, such as older demographics if your business caters to them. There are a lot of possibilities with direct mail you can discover by getting some printed and seeing for yourself.

Business Cards

Most professionals are well-served by having a business card they can hand out to people at events or in passing. This is especially true if you are a freelancer or even run an online business. A business card is a great way to encourage people you meet in real life to check out your website and the products or services you provide online. Business cards also provide contact information so people can contact you later with questions, commissions or other requests.

Storefront Signs

If you run a physical store or office, colour banners and signage are practically a necessity. They can serve to advertise your business from the windows to catch the eyes of passerby and convince them to come inside and shop. This is helpful because these signs immediately let customers know what you sell and the type of business you are. They can advertise promotions or sales that may be going on at the moment. Retractable banners and indoor posters can also serve to make the inside of your store or office more vibrant.

Promotional Items

Your printed logo, the name of your business or a clever saying printed on promotional items is another great way printing can promote your business. T-shirts, for example, can be worn by your employees at events and sold to your customers to spread the word about your business. They are also helpful for branding and team-building efforts among your employees.

Other Types Of Signs

Billboards, flyers posted around town and other types of physical signage are very effective at drawing attention to your new business and will continue to be popular in 2019. Car signs, including magnets carried by Color Copies USA, are also a great idea. They serve as a moving advertisement for your business just while driving around town. They are especially useful if your operation goes to individual homes, such as if you run a cleaning business or a dog training service.
Printed materials are still very relevant in advertising your new business…even in 2019. They are used in any number of ways to help get your new business off the ground and experience growth. Choose an online printing company experienced in working with many different types of industries to successfully promote and grow your new business.

Distribute Flyers

Perhaps the oldest form of marketing next to the shop sign would have to be flyers. Even with the popularity of Internet marketing, flyers and direct mail are still effective ways to make sales, especially that tricky and often allusive first one. The beauty of a flyer campaign is it’s easy and inexpensive to test for effectiveness.

Start with a Sample Test

If you’re not sure if you want to spend the energy going door-to-door flyer campaigns – you can easily test to see if it’s worth engaging in.
  1. Create a flyer – Start with something really simple and to the point. Less is more. Less is also much easier to test and makes a great baseline. Try promoting a sale, a specific item, or an event. For example if you run an online kayaking store, then offer free kayaking lessons. Whatever you do, don’t just promote your URL and hope for sales to come in.
  2. Print out 100 flyers – 100 pieces is a good number to give you results to make an informed decision later on. It also won’t take too long to distribute.
  3. Go door-to-door – Delivering 100 flyers will take a good portion of an afternoon.
The easiest way to see results is to check your sales over the next month. You can look at your billing and shipping zip codes to see if they match the area your flyers were delivered to. You might want to keep checking a few months later to see if any more sales trickle in.
Alternately, you can use a special URL or a coupon code to track your flyer efforts. For example if you want to offer a discount to residents in your city, you can send them to a URL like: www.yourdomain.com/city-name or give them a coupon code like “CITYNAMEYEAR”.
Depending on how many sales derive from your campaign, you’ll be able to determine if it’s worth scaling. In many cases, just a few sales out of 100 are usually worth justifying future flyers campaigns. Don’t forget that some of these customers will be repeat customers, so the investment upfront should pay off more down the line.

Scaling

If you want to try a larger flyer campaign and cover more ground, it’s good to think of it as a mini science project. Before you make a new flyer with a new promotion you should try the exact same flyer again, this time sending it to 10 times the number of new prospects than before.
The reason for this is simple: with an expanded reach, you have even better data on how effective your baseline flyer is. If you send the flyer to 1,000 homes, you’ll have a more accurate conversion rate of that first flyer.
You’re also going to want to hire someone or a company to deliver the flyers. At 1,000 homes – it’s no longer worth your time to kick rocks. There are a lot of businesses that do flyer delivery for you – so simply do a Google search to see who offers the service in your area. Of course this will increase your costs and you might not get the same results. And that’s exactly why it’s so important to test and measure.

Testing Your Flyers

The next step is testing your flyer. Over the next few campaigns, test things like:
  • Copy – Change the wording of your flyer.
  • The Offer – Try a more compelling offer.
  • More than one offer – Try multiple offers, but be incremental when adding offers. Your tests will be much easier to gain insights from.
Only change one thing per campaign. If you change too many elements on your mailing piece at once, you’ll have a hard time knowing what has the biggest effect. Later on when you get your flyer testing “chops” down, feel free to do big bold changes to see if you can make a bigger impact to your bottom line.
An important aspect of flyer marketing is to remember to have your flyers printed by a printing company that is reliable and prints good quality work. Check out Asset Print - they’re great at what they do and priced very reasonably.

The Best Business Card Practices

With the right card, you're ready to network your butt off. Here are some strategies that can make sure the handing off of your card doesn't go to waste. After all, you don't want to go through the trouble of making—or buying—the perfect design if they're not going to get good use.
  • Be prepared:Always have business cards on you. Always. Even when you're on vacation you might make a connection with someone. Keep a few in your wallet and you'll be good to go.
  • Be selective:You may have a thousand cards, but that doesn't mean you need to use them all at one conference. Tossing your card at every single person you meet will get them tossed in the trash and waste your cards. A good rule of thumb is if you shook their hand after making a connection, hand off your card.
  • Be interested:If you hand off a business card, try to get one back. Most of the time they'll try to reciprocate when you give them a card, but if they don't, ask. Showing your interest in them can increase their interest in you, and it never hurts to have their information for reference.
  • Be proactive:When you do get their business card, take some time to look them up on LinkedIn, Twitter, or wherever else they may have listed themselves. Doing this will help you remember the names of the people you meet and often let you put a face to the name. Now when they shoot you an email, you're not trying to decide if it's the guy you sat next to or the guy you talked to outside of the bathroom.
Keep these business card basics in practice and you'll come across as professional while potentially saving yourself a headache down the road.
There are lots of ways to get into people's contact lists, but business cards are still a mainstay in the professional world. They're cheap, simple, and efficient at delivering all the information you need to hand off.
Make sure you have a striking and memorable, yet professional and simple business card that is printed by a choice and reliable business card printer, such as Asset Print.

5 Reasons You Should Be Using Rack Cards Instead Of Brochures To Market Your Business

Your business grows. It evolves. You change staff members, you add services, and you develop special programming.
Nothing’s static when you run a business, so locking your business’s efforts into a single moment in time doesn’t make a lot of sense. It’s for this very reason that the tri-fold brochures of old have fallen out of favor with some, replaced by more flexible and affordable rack cards from Asset Print.

A rack card is a high-impact, visually driven handout that focuses on a specific aspect of your business – a service, program or member of your team, for instance. Three or more of these rack cards, and you have yourself a system.
So what’s the draw? What makes rack card systems better than brochures, fliers and other printed marketing tools? Let’s explore some of the benefits:

Rack cards are specific

Rather than mention a service or product option as part of a bullet-point list in a brochure, rack cards allow you to truly spotlight what’s important to clients and referral sources and what sets you apart from other service providers in your market. A rack card provides plenty of space for you to delve into a specific service or program, directly appealing to the needs and goals of potential clients and referral sources.

They are flexible

As your business grows, your rack card system will grow with you. And when changes occur in your business, a rack card system allows you to quickly adjust. If a program evolves or is eliminated, for instance, remove or replace the card, and the system remains intact.

They tell a story

Rack cards give you the option to craft very specific messages about your business, depending on the needs of a particular audience or person. Most effectively tell your story by giving clients and referral sources only the rack cards that are most meaningful to them.

They educate

What does your business do? Does it offer unique services or products? Can it help clients in a way no other business can? Educating the public about the value of your business services should be a continuing goal you. Rack cards can prove an invaluable tool for driving these efforts.

They’re low-impact

Rack card systems can be scaled based on need as well as budget, making them a low-impact, affordable addition to your marketing strategy. Unlike trifolds or pricey mail marketing pieces, rack cards can be presented as a set or individually. If you discontinue a service or a staff member leaves, you’re not stuck paying for a redesign of an entire marketing piece.
